Become a part of our whānau

Stay a while, lend a hand, and experience what it’s like to be a part of the Solscape family.

The exchange

Volunteering at Solscape is a simple trade: a couple of hours a day helping the place run, in exchange for a bed among ten acres of gardens and native bush, minutes from Raglan’s coast.

It suits travellers who want to slow down, become part of a community, and give back to the land while they’re here. All applications are made through email or our Worldpackers listing.

How it works

What we ask, and what you receive

What we ask

  • Minimum stay of 2 weeks — time to train and settle in
  • A review after 2 weeks to check we’re a good fit for each other
  • 2.5 hours a day, 5 days a week
  • Saturdays & Sundays are essential — our busiest check-out days, when we need everyone on
  • Usual hours are 10:00am–12:30pm

What you receive

  • Shared accommodation, or a car park if you have your own van
  • Access to kitchen and bathroom facilities
  • Discounts on yoga classes, the Solspring sauna and surf hire
  • A spot in a warm, ever-changing community of travellers
  • Food is self-catered — though group meals and potlucks are often shared
  • No on-site laundry, but there’s a laundromat in town

Planning to work as well? That’s fine — as long as it doesn’t clash with the hours, days and weekends above.

Lending a hand

What you’ll help with

  • Housekeeping — cleaning rooms & making beds
  • Maintaining communal areas
  • Basic maintenance
  • Landscaping
  • Gardening
  • Any special skills you bring

Got a skill we could use — a trade, a green thumb, a way with people? Tell us. There’s always something to do around this space, indoors and out.
