New to surfing, or want to sharpen up? We run lessons on request at Ngarunui Beach — the gentle, sand-bottomed beach break that’s the friendliest place in Raglan to find your feet. Your instructor meets you at the water with everything you need.

Getting to the water. Boards and wetsuits are picked up from reception and taken down to the beach by you. We’ve a range of hardtops and softtops, plus 3:2 wetsuits to suit the conditions.

Do you offer surf lessons?
Yes — we run beginner-friendly surf lessons on request at Ngarunui Beach, the gentle beach break just down the hill. Board and wetsuit are included. Email us with your dates and group size and we’ll confirm a time and pricing.
Can I hire a board and wetsuit?
Yes, all year round. Hire is by the half day (4 hours) or full day (8 hours): a soft-top board is $50 or $65, a hard-top is $60 or $75, and a wetsuit is $30 or $45. Board-and-wetsuit packages run from $65 to $90. Gear is picked up from reception and taken down to the beach by you.
Where do you surf in Raglan?
Ngarunui Beach is the gentle, beginner-friendly beach break, just down the hill. Raglan’s famous point breaks — Manu Bay, Whale Bay and Indicators — are advanced, local waves further along the coast; only surf them at the right level and with respect for the local lineup.
